  1. On average, first year tax preparer at H&R Block makes $8-9 per hour.  The average hourly rate goes up to $12-$15 on the 2nd year if one takes lots of training courses and increase their tax knowledge.  It is not a high paying job, and most people do it for the love of the work.

You can go to their web site, http://www.hrblock.com/ and click on the "Income Tax Courses" link.  Once you completed and passed the course, you will be offered a position in the upcoming tax season.

    Best wishes.

  2. I use to work there during tax season. I made 7-8 dollars and hour but you also get paid commission. So I probably averaged about 11-15 dollars an hour, but this is probably higher in other areas. Wages are pretty low where I live. Just to give you an example for comparison, fast food workers make 6.55-7.00 an hour.

To become a H&R Block worker, just apply. The hire just about anybody during tax season.
