doing a project and need to know how much americans spend on Gas yearly.

If the average American driver  drives 15,000 miles per year, averages about 20 miles per gallon, and pays $3.50 per gallon, that is 750 gallons of gas and $2625.

My family though splits that between two cars and two drivers, so, we average $1300 per driver.

$1600, that is rounded.  I drive about 12 miles every day to my sons school, then to work and then home.  I also drive a Toyota Corolla and don't take my car when we go on trips......Hope this helps you project.
