How much money does an average bike rider spend on gas?

Hmm... well yeah the obvious answer is nothing, but you know how life is... we still all pay one way or another.

I ride to and from work pretty much every day - I use public trans when I absolutely have to.

But my wife and kids need the car - and they're doing pretty good - maybe 20-40 miles M-F - that's maybe 2 Gallons city driving... (Subaru gets about 20-25mpg).

THEN the weekend - we can easily use up a tank of gas if we go on a day trip to hike or "gasp" ride our bikes... hence the less than ideal mpg - we need a car for recreation...

Sigh... so all in all for a family of four I am purchasing 2-3 tanks (15 gallons) per month.

Now if I drove... that would be 4-5 tanks per month!  That's good, but yeah - all that work during the week and I'm still funding the oil companies.  Oy.

Nothing, unless you count the re-fueling stop at Green Burrito halfway through the ride.  That also does away with the zero emissions as well....
