I usually keep my computer on for nights, if not a week.

I live in STL, MO but currently don't know the electricity rate. A guess will be nice.

  1. a kilo is a thousand not a hundred but hes right you should set it in sleep than at least you will be using a minut wattage but to answer your question it would cost 31.8 cents a night in the united states but if you set in on sleep you would only burn 6.25 cents per 8 hrs

  2. Are you kidding?

700 watts is a room heater not a PC.

You will know how much you pay per kilowatt hour so 700 watts (if that is true) for 10 hours is 7 kilowatt hours.

Why dont you set the machine to sleep overnight and whenever your not using it?  Also easy to turn it off and then you consume no electricity until you turn on again.

Edit - thanks for the reminder Cameron that kilo = 1000 and one of my room heaters at home is a dual setting 1kW heater with 2 elements, one of 700 watts and one 300 watts.  And it still makes 700 watts times 10 hours is 7 kW.hrs.

  3. In Germany there is technologies where it is all the same which one used up, because it is not in vain without oil, gas, wood etc. Co2 output. There you can let your devices run around the clock, without costs. To have for each household. In America it will still last is it on the market comes, too little interest, at free energy.
