  1. I'm just on the phone to his accountant..............Hello...

  2. A tamagotchi, a couple of Hondas and a complete works of "Morning Musume" aside from the collection of J-doramas that have been passed on from every former shogun and emperor.

  3. HIH Emperor Akihito's staff includes, four doctors on call 24 hours a day, five men to attend to his wardrobe and 11 who assist him in shinto rites. In all, Japan's royal family commands a legion of more than 1000 people, including a 24-piece orchestra, 30 gardeners, 25 cooks and 78 plumbers, electricians and builders.

The main Imperial Palace in Tokyo requires 160 servants to keep it running, whiles the Emperor and his family run a monthly water bill of £50,000.

His palace has a £2 million-a-year clinic with 42 staff. The room was re-decorated beforehand at a cost of £140,000.

A special 961 strong police force guards the Imperial family and their residences at a cost of £48 million. The Emperor also spent £140,000 building a new wine cellar, which stores 4,500 bottles. When president Mbeki of South Africa visited Japan in 2001 he was served Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1982, which today costs more than £300 a bottle.

Among the Imperial properties is a 622-acre farm which provides milk, meat and vegetables for the Imperial family at an annual cost of £3 million. The farm once ran a profit because it bred prizewinning racehorses but this was stopped in 1969. When the Emperor travels, his entourage pays just £110 a night, no matter how expensive the hotel is.

When Emperor Akihito's father Emperor Hirohito died, he left property worth £11 million. So Emperor Akihito probably has a fortune of about £500 million pounds although these figures are not completely known since the Imperial Family has been secretive about their spending habits. It could be more.

  4. The budget allocated to the Imperial Family is relatively small. Every year, the imperial family receives almost 18 billion yen. in 2004,10.83 billion yen was allocated to them for it's expenses and 6.30 bilion yen went for palace upkeep, palace related expenses and the cost associated with official royal duties, such as ceremonies and state banquets.

  5. Much of the Imperial family's wealth was confiscated after world war two. However, Emperor Akihito inherited a large fortune from his late father, Emperor Hirohito. Emperor Hirohito had an estimated fortune in excess of $100 billion in a swiss bank account, which cannot be accessed by anyone other than the Emperor in power. When Emperor Hirohito died in 1989, he left personal property that reportedly was worth £11 million.

  6. Oodles of it. The princess' dowry when she married a commoner was over 1.3 million USD.

  7. Well i read somewhere that his late father Emperor Hirohito had an estimated fortune of $100 billion in a swiss bank account so the money has been passed down to his son Emperor Akihito along with his personal property worth $11 million so the emperor must be really rich. He recently purchased a Toyota Limousine.
