  1. I hate to answer like this, but it all depends on the airport, and its air/passenger traffic.

You could make Nothing, all the way up to millions of dollars per year.

    Landing fees -traffic related

    Parking fees- passenger related-traffic related

    Sales - Passenger related

    Rent-Vendor Related-passenger related-traffic related.

    Literally hundreds of possibilities.

  2. Millions per year

  3. Unless you are prepared to open a large airport that caters to massive amounts of passenger traffic, you would probably make about -$500/day. (That's MINUS 500/day)

My little county airport is constantly running in the red and the county keeps wanting to close it. They are lucky to break even. The only money they take in on their own is through hangar/tiedown rental and fuel sales. A little comes in thru our small, solitary mechanic, but that's about it. It relies on a lot of subsidies from the county, state, and FAA.

  4. Most major airports are non-profit organizations, forbidden to make a profit under law.  If Port of New York Authority, for example, which operates LaGuardia and Kennedy International Airports, earns a surplus, the money goes into the city's general operating budget.

Small airports can be privately owned, and can earn income from fuel sales, hangar and tie-down fees, concessions, and similar activities.  A few make pretty good money, but the cost of operations is high.  Most make little if any profit.

To obtain more detailed answers, you would have to make a detailed study of the costs and profit opportunities, interview specific operators, and compile a lot of information.

    Good luck.

  5. Without the government subsidies you would loose money.
