  1. The press release that samthementor found shows total TV to have been $15.6B in 1Q 2007.  (great job, samthementor, btw).  1Q is a low-cost quarter, the total year is typically about 15% higher than the 1Q rate.  A rough total for 2007 then would be about $70 Billion -- that's total Television including Network (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX), Cable, Syndication (Oprah, Wheel ...) and Spot (local stations).  

    The TNS source that samthementor noted is one of two sources that tracks such data.  The other is Nielsen via its MonitorPlus service.  TNS is credible.  My roughing out an annual estimate is not a credible as if I tapped into the TNS database but its a worthy estimate if you are just looking for a rough estimate.
