  1. Look to set aside or get a loan for 40 to 70 thousand dollars, including thousands in cash on hand for Sherpas, tips for favors from other people, etc.

When looking for a group to go with, avoid Gustavo Lisi, Asian Trekking, Bob Hoffman, Henry Todd, Lhakpa Sherpa, and George Dijmarescu.

But don't avoid all Sherpas, most are good.

Ask any potential expedition group you go with what they'll do about equipment theft. And avoid a company that will do business with oxygen tank re-fillers that operate right at Base Camp, unless the company has the means to do it themselves.

Consider going on a expedition led by Russell Brice if you're serious about this. Get in as good physical shape as you can and make sure you don't have any conditions like osteoperosis. Learn how to tie knots.

  2. = Probably somewhere around $50K to make the ascent. Figure at least that to get in shape.

= Supposedly  the Japanese woman Yasuko Namba 12 climbers who died atop the summit in May 1996 paid $75K.

= I am not sure how your safety could be assured.

= Spend $200K and go into space with Voyager. I'm sure that's going to be a lot safer.

  3. I think it is about 40-50K US. You have to pay for a lot of Sherpa's and food and tents and gear and a guide.

How many peaks do you need to stand on before you can climb to the top of Everest ? as many as you think it will take till you feel that you are ready, so it could be 2 or it could be 22.
