How much money should I bring to Cancun Mexico?

My boyfriend and I are going to cancun next week and we are staying at a hotel that is not all-inclusive. Will we be ok with $1000? We plan on going to walmart at the begining of the week to get food and eat in our villa. And I don't think we are going to do many tours.

you can get by with 1000 if you really watch your money,  wal mart here is expensive....so dont expect the same prices as in the us. you will easily spend 100.00 per day.....no matter what and that will be pushing it.  bring your debit or credit card for back up.  you should be fine, but you will need to watch your money.

If you have an ATM card.  It's easier to use it and just get pesos as you need them.  There are ATMs all over Cancun.

It all depends on how much, what, and where you're going to be eating and drinking.  Most people can get by on $100 day easily.  But if you're going to have several expensive meals out, that won't be nearly enough.  If you're going to Walmart, try to buy the food that seems to be local, rather than things imported from the states and you will spend much less money.  Unfortunately, it's very expensive to eat in the hotel zone, but if you're willing to take a bus into town, you'll find a lot of good, cheap eats.
