  1. If you are going on a group tour, take more than you first thought.  you will visit all of the tourist traps and they will charge more.  McDonald's have FREE restrooms and they also sell Beer.  Always take more than you think you are going to need.  Most places over $10 take credit cards.

  2. I lived in Heidelberg for two years. The ATMS are in English (well most are) so you can get money out. At least with the EURO itwill be easier to travel from place to place. Try to keep some 20 cent (small change) with you at all times. Most restrooms do charge for use!!! Even the Mcdonalds will ask you for money on the plate for the person that is cleaning it.

TWO EUROS is in CHANGE not bills. Don't forget! It's so easy to loose the 1 & 2 euro coins, but that can really really add up!

Make sure you see the castle in Heidelberg. The whole area of Heidelberg is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice. Gets some Gelto as well. Hmmm good!

  3. More than you think you'll need.  If you're from America, remember that the euro is worth more than the dollar, so USD won't go as far.  Many places do charge to use the bathroom (even some McD's), and it's not hard to spend little bits here and there -- almost everything there costs something.  It may be easier to not take money with you, just go to an atm when you get there, if you have a visa atm card (it's cheaper than exchanging money).  And you can search online for visa atm locations, just to make sure.
