Question:

How much money should I charge per hour, per child for babysitting?

I have taken a Red Cross babysitting course, and I know CPR. I am going to be 13 in 2 months and I am going into the 8th grade in September.

I was wondering, how much money should I charge per hour per child, and if there is an additional child, how much should I charge to babysit for them also??

Thanks!

  1. If you are just starting out babysitting, just remember to charge more on the cheaper side; but remember to not go too cheap. Choose what is fair for both you and your employer. I went to a SafeSitter class and I remember them saying that around $5 an hour is just around right. It's up to you if you want to charge $5 an hour for all the kids, or $5 an hour; PER kid. Just remember to give your employer a good deal; and you a good paycheck. GOOD LUCK!

  2. I would keep your charge price at an affordable level; especially nowadays.  I would think that no more than $5 per child per hour is good. I would charge more if you already had plans and dropped them to babysit for the family and maybe tack on a few extra dollars per hour for holidays. Keeping your price maybe a little lower than other girls will encourage the families to hire you instead of them. And if they are happy with you and your prices they will be more apt to tell their friends and family; thus spreading the word for you!!! Good luck hon!

  3. Firstly, what state do you live in? That makes a big difference. Second, you don't charge per child, you charge by the hour.
