Question:

How much money should I take on holiday?

I'm going to Tenerife with my friends for 8 days.

I have saved £250 and that works out at about £30 a day or 40 Euros a day. We're staying half board so I have to pay for lunch, clubbing, shopping (if I do any) and any activities (Which I doubt we will do, except visit the volcano there).

I dont drink loads, and it doesn't take many drinks to be tipsy so I wont be spending loads in the clubs.

I dont have a cash card or credit card so whatever I take has to last me..

Do people think I should take more with me or do you think this will be enough?

Thanks in advance!

  1. you might wanna take extra, but dont spend it, just in case something happens. If your insured your ok, but say u might have to pay an excess if anything happens.

  2. I would not take too much cash..... You are better off buying travellers cheques. If you loose them they can be replaced and there is of course the safety aspect. Most hotels will change travellers cheques. Try to get American Express as they guarantee to replace any lost cheques within 24 hours. Any cheques you don't use you can cash them in when you return.

    Enjoy your holiday

  3. I am going away for a week to Ibiza and am taking around £1000 just to make sure I have enough to do what I want to do, and not be one of these people that say oh I can't afford to do that....TAKE MORE MONEY!!!!!

  4. The euro has made it more expensive this year for people, i would aim to take approx £50 - £60 a day , it not possible just budget , drink before you go out! take advantage of the happy hours and eat loads at breakfast and just snack at lunch!

Dont worry about the Ibiza advise as Ibiza is mega expensive, Tenerfie has more cocktail bars/clubs that are normally free - we tagged on to a club 18 - 30 bar crawl and got loads of free drinks!

    have fun and be safe!

  5. try to take a little more how about asking parents/grandparents for a little extra spends. try to make it up to £300.

good way to save a little when your out there, make sure you go down for breakfast even if you go back to bed after, use a napkin and take a couple of extra bread rolls/slices of ham back to your room on top of eating a good breakfast you have paid for it. have the rolls etc for lunch on the beach. try to buy water (not fizzy drinks) in bottles for the beach or pool side, fill them up when empty from drinking water fountains.

try to drink in the clubs one soft drink then a alcoholic drink, helps with cost, helps to stop getting a handover and you dont get to drunk. enjoy your holiday

  6. if what you said is right then you should have enough but i would take a little more just on safe side, but then again i spend alot on holidays.....

    have a gud one..

  7. I WOULD TAKE £500 BUT PUT £200 IN A SAFE 4 EMERGENCY.MAKE SURE YOUR INSURED JUST INCASE ANYTHING HAPPENS.HAVE A GR8 HOLIDAY.

  8. Well im going to France this saturday for 5 days, and im taking £250 as i worked out £50  day and your sorted.

Maybe it would be wise for you to do the same

But i still think £30 good money aslong as its preserved, i mean think how it will be spent.

2-4 pints can cost between £7-10 over there.

Meals could could you upto £15 a day

And you need money for transport which leaves you with a maximum of £8 out of the £30. This seems like quite a tight option to me and certainly means you won't have much money left over for shopping.

£40 a day would loosen it up a bit, but you must realise somedays you'll spend less than other. So £40 is definately a healthier option, but i would go with £50.

£50 leaves you with money to do everything, and you have more left than you intended, you can always spend it at the Duty Free.

On the contrary, its your holiday, your few chances of freedom yearly, do you want to be stuck for money some days, thinking you can nip into the next days £30 and it won't harm you?

Of course not, you want so much money that you haven't got to worry about the items your buying and whether or not they're going to affects you.

So... If you can get £40 per day, do it thats much healthier than £30. But £50 your absolutely sorted.

I appreciate you haven't got much money leaving school and such, but if you could work it out to be £40 a day, only another £80, you'll be most fine.

    Good luck mate, have fun.

  9. Take all of it.

    Enjoy your pickpockets.
