  1. Depends on how long your vacation is.. warning you:  Don't bring 100 dollar bills but smaller bills such as 20s

  2. Depending of the length of time you will be here and your taste in lodging and activities.  I advise not bringing all that cash, but an ATM card.  You can check on-line to make sure your bank card will work here.

  3. Speaking from my experiences in Guatemala which I would imagine to be about the same cost:

sounds good enough to me, but you've got to be real careful. And, because I am a tight-wad, that would include air travel for me. But that would be per person for about a week. Additional people: you may want to allow an extra $1,000 each, plus about $100 per person/per day extra.

    Please note:

THIS IS BEING VERY TIGHT!!!!!!!!! This budget is not wise if this is all you have, and you should have a credit card to back you up just in case.

Don't forget, there are fees at the airport to get back into the U.S. even if your ticket says 'all taxes and fees included'.

Speaking the language will help get better deals on things.

  4. Not including the airplane tickets that sounds like a fair amount of money to bring when traveling.

  5. Depends on how long you are staying and what services you require. Do you have to have A/C? Rent a car?

    Costa Rica is NOT cheap.
