I think that we will hit Wal*mart in the moring and take food in a cooler. What food should we put in the cooler that will last until lunch time? And how much should I take for 2 or 3 20oz and maybe a snack in the park?

  1. A lot of it!

  2. Also ride photos (if you want them) cost anywhere from $10-$15. I just went to Cedar Point last week. We ate at the park, bought souvenirs, and paid for gas, so when all was said and done I had spent about $130. I had about $200 saved up because we got a hotel and I chipped in for that too. Take more money than you think you will need, it is better to have that than to not have enough.

  3. First off, if you're packing a cooler with food, which is a great idea by the way, go the night before, and buy bottles of water and/ or Gatorade, and freeze them.  They'll help keep your food cold, and by the time they thaw, it'll be lunch time, and you'll still have cold drinks.

If you're planning on buying food or snacks in the park, expect high prices.  Don't be surprised if you're spending $3 or more for a 20oz bottle of water or soda.  Yes, parks charge that much and get away with it because people are willing to pay that much when they're thirsty.  To cut costs of in park drinks, buy a refillable cup (if you don't mind carrying it around the park all day).  They usually run around $5-$10, but you can get discounted refills all day long.  And if you share the cup with your group, each person can take turns carrying it, or paying for the refills.  Another way to save money.

For snacks and food, expect to spend anywhere between $2.50-$6.00 depending on what you're getting.  Popcorn or ice cream?  Easily around $3.  Fries or onion rings?  The same.  Just plan on everything being overpriced.

If you're packing your food in a cooler, your options are unlimited.  Quick snacks like Lunchables are good, so is fruit and chopped veges and dip.  Layer your cooler with your frozen drinks on the bottom so they don't squish anything else.  If you're bringing sandwhich fixin's so everyone can make their own sandwiches, you can buy travel sized bottles, but if you can't find them, the full sized will do.  I like to use mine from the fridge since they're already cold.  I'll layer them at the bottom of the cooler, then the frozen drinks, then the rest of the food.
