My bosses are taking us and they got us an all inclusive package. I need to know how much I should take for cabs, clubs, and other excursions. I also would love it if someone can tell me any other travel tips like where NOT to go, should I take a camera, ipod, other stuff, or will it get stollen?

  1. $100 a day would be plenty if you are staying at an all inclusive resort. Steer clear of people offering to take you on jungle tours. Many times they take you out to the jungle area, rob you and leave you there. Make sure your tour is booked with a reputable touring company. check SpinCityTravel.com for local tours, events and activities. or check with your concierge at the resort. Take your toys, just keep your wits about you and don't wander off alone.

  2. In general, don't take anything electronic or expensive on any vacation since there is always the risk of misplacement or theft.  I haven't been to Cancun in a while but it's a pretty safe place to go.  The entire island pretty much knows its entire economy is based on tourism, so they tend to be friendly and helpful.  I'd avoid taking any excursions off the island into the mainland unless you book through a reputable travel rep.  The trips into Mexico proper can be fun but the smaller junkets may not take you to the restaurants that follow good food safety practices.

  3. Hey, you have a great bosses.

We always take our camera on vacation with us. Small enough to fit in the safe when not in use. I have been to Cancun 4 times and I have never had anything stolen at a resort. We lock our valuables in the safe. (passport, credit cards, extra cash, camera etc.) We only take enough money for the day and one credit card when we go on excursions. Someone in our group is alway  watching our stuff on an excursion. On the beach at the resort, just have some dollars for tips with you.

The thing to watch out for are the timeshare sales people that con you into a sales pitch and waste your valuable vacation time with the lure of a excursion or money.

Bring small bills with you, like dollar bills. Good for small purchases, bus rides (65 cents) and tips. Even though you are going to a all-inclusive resort, tipping your housekeeper, bartender and food server a dollar or two will get you top notch service.

I would bring a mixture of cash, credit card and ATM card.

If you are staying 7 days $500 in cash is good. Use your credit card for excursions. If you need more cash use your ATM card. Just remember they disperse pesos not $$$.

If you go to the markets, remember they expect you to bargain so start low because they will start high.

Have fun and enjoy your trip)

  4. Don't give any money to the company Pastor International Marketing. (PIMSA)

These rats sell tours and never provide service. Be careful who you do business with in Cancun. They are 2 faced rats.
