  1. It will all depend on what you wish to do while you are here.

As most people have already pointed out, the All Inclusive Plan seems to be the way ahead these days, but don't just sit in the hotel and mong it there, as there are so many things to do here, and some excellent restaurants.

Have a think about what you want to do before you set off, and budget accordingly, for a rough guide.....

Jungle Tours - $60.00 USD per person

Swim with Dolphins - $149.00 USD per person (Royal Swim)

Xcaret - $100.00 USD per person

Chichen Itza - $75.00 USD per person

Captain Hook - $90.00 USD per person

Catamaran Trip - $60.00 USD per person (Open Bar + Lunch)

Night Clubs - roughly $50.00 USD per person Open Bar

Party Hopper - $65.00 USD per person

It's good advise to bring a credit card to pay for things, but just remember that there is a 3 or 4 % charge for that privilege on every transaction.

HSBC Cashpoints are located all over Cancun.. KM4.2 at the Captain Hook Marina, KM5 by Dolphin Discovery, KM9 Plaza Forum where Hard Rock Cafe is (3rd floor) KM11 at Senor Frogs, KM 13 Plaza Kukulcan... all of these give you the option of Pesos or USD. (smallest US notes are $20).

Do keep or bring some smaller bills with you to pay tips and transport though, as bus drivers and waiters may not always have change.

No matter what you decide to bring.... DO use the safe in your Hotel room to keep all your money, valuables & passport.

    Hope this helps

  2. Since your hotel and airfare is paid for, you don't need much money but a good guide would be $100 a day. (If you are staying at an all-inclusive) If not all-inclusive, you will need double that.  I would bring a credit card for any excursion you may want to indulge in.

Bring some small bills for tipping, bus fare and small purchases. The ATM's disperse pesos but NOT in small bills. We always use dollars and they are excepted every where.

    Have a great time)

  3. If you are staying at an all-inclusive then a lot of activities are included with your stay. You can enjoy them there or go out and spend money, expect to pay about the same you would pay here to eat out. May I recommend that you have your meals (if all-inclusive) where you're staying then go out, if that's what you're going to do. The hotel where I stay has liquor included in our room and so I carry  a flask with me. You will need about $20-50(depending on which airport you stay at) to get to and from the airport unless it's included in your package. Cab and bus money, tipping and so on. If not at all-inclusive, you'll need money for tours and or activities you might want to do like snorkeling, tours, dinner cruises, jungle cruise and so on. I agree with $100 a day rule.

  4. Totally depends on how much you plan on drinking.  Drinking in the Adult Beverage way.  Is you hotel all inclusive?  I would say $40 per day per person for food and non alcohol.

$110 per person would be safe.

  5. a lot..and i mean a lot!!!

  6. Lots, Cancun is very expensive, vacationing in Cancun is more expensive than vacationing in Hawaii or San Diego.

  7. Do not carry a lot of cash.  Use your atm card to get money out in pesos as needed.   You get the best exchange rate that way.    And I believe you meant your hotel  bill is already "paid."

  8. well things cost less over there like one dollar here is 11 pesos over there

  9. I went alone and spent over 1k, poor management since the resort was all inclusive... it just depends on how much you plan on going out and what you really want to do, Id take a credit card since cash is a risky thing to travel with, set a budget as to what you can afford and dont go over it, no need to return from vaction with another worry... keep in your budget and enjoy your trip!!

**DONT USE A DEBIT CARD! i was charged $11 for every time i used mine, and i actually lost it there, its to much of a risk... credit is the best way to go since you can report them stolen or lost and most have insurance on them so what ever would be charged could be reimbursed.

  10. I'm going to Cancun for about a week after Graduation, and everyone who's been in my family and other people I've asked have told me to bring about $100 for every day. Since you will only be there about 3 full days, I'd recommend bringing about $800. That'll be $300 each (for you and your husband) and you'll have $200 left for any impulsive buys, emergencies, or you could even bring that much back home with you. I'm sure you guys will have fun! Overall, just remember to be safe!
