How much money to bring to an Epicure Party?

I will be attending an Epicure Tasting Party (it's my first one) and I know that the purpose of these parties is to get us to buy the different dips/ingredients that is used in preparing the lovely foods presented. What is considered a decent amount to spend without going over the top or being put in the poor house?

Don't take any more money than you can afford to spend!

Based on past experiences with 'hostess parties", it is VERY easy to overspend because everything looks so wonderful and the presentation is made so the company can take your hard earned cash. I only take the amount of cash I can spend reasonably and leave my checkbook, debit card and credit cards at home!
