I know our dollar isn't good there right now. We have the rooms already booked (so that expense helps) and are staying mostly in th south west but are traveling quite a bit. The rental car has also been handled.

So I'll need money for drinking, food, souvineers, tours, etc.

What would be a rule of thumb to go by? I hear it is quite expensive over there.

  1. compared to the us 'quite expensive' is an understatement!!!

you are probably looking at €80-€100 per day ($125-$150)

so that would be €800-€1,000 or ($1,250-$1,500) for the 10 days

dont be put off by that though - its a great country and you will have a ball

  2. Yes

    it is quite expensive.

but guessing from the description you are going to Munster or southern connacht and around there isn't quite as bad as Dublin but for everything you are going to need I would suggest you bring about 900-1000 euro so about 1477 dollars....I know it is quite alot.

i spent even more in wales

  3. Drink is about  4 euro for a pint of beer,  5 for spirits.

Cigarettes are 7.50 euro for twenty

Petrol is a whopping  1.35 euro a litre,  making a fill up cost about 60 to 70 euro.

Pub Grub is probably best and cheapest but can average out at 10 euro.

    Evening meals are dearer.

A sandwich and coke in a filling station will cost 5 euro.

You won't have much change from 1000 euro,  but bring plastic Visa in case you get stuck.

    Enjoy your trip.

  4. I'd say €1000 at the very least.  Food is pretty expensive, plus petrol (gas) costs 2 or 3 times as much as it does in the US.

  5. Yea at least a 1000euro you'll be spending a little over a 100 a day
