How much money will i need to take to dominican republic?

I am going on an all inclusive holiday to the dom. rep. in june and want to know roughly how much i will need to take.....the resort in grand palladium bavaro punta cana, we will be going on copuple excursions but for rest of hols just chilling....how much is pint etc.......

We always bring a mixture of money and credit cards. Since you are staying at an all-inclusive resort, you won't need much cash. Credit cards are accepted for excursions. I would bring about $500 in cash, credit card and ATM card. If you plan on going to the casinos , that's another story. Then you will need much more.

You need :

- Airport (arrival) 10 us/per person

- Excursions : booked at the hotel at an average of 85us/p.p.

                        booked outside at an average of 69us/p.p.

                        (estimate)

- Souvenirs/Gifts : Up to you

- Night activities outside : Depending your lifestyle

- Airport (departure) 20us/per person.

If you want to stay inside the hotel and not discovering nothing of this beautiful country (Punta Cana is a bit isolated from next town by 59 km!!!) you will spend less money. But who goes to a country to stay in the hotel???

I stayed in the Riu Niaboa in Punta Cana for one week All Inclusive 2 years ago.  Apart from the excursions and maybe a few souviner shops there isnt much else to spend your money on...

All the excursions we did included alcohol and snacks/food for the day.. we did the Saona Island and the Shark Swim and Catamaran trip.  Both fantastic.. but that is what most of our money went on...  We brought $500 USD with us and bought lots of souviners back and still had money for duty free on the way home!!

I worked on the same basis for Cuba this year only this time I went for 2 weeks and brought around $1000USD (that was for me and my son).  We did four excursions (Cost about $500 for both of us) and again I still had plenty of money to buy cigars and rum!!

If you are after Jewellery though then it will sting you - turqoise is the speciality but you are looking at about $100-$200 for one piece...  we went to one club and it was $10 in and $2 a bottle of beer - not bad compared to the UK!!

All inclusives include all your drinks as well so unless you venture out of your hotel complex it wont cost you a penny for your beers :o)
