Mine cost roughly $700, but it was for 2 back teeth that a prior dentist had filled to the nerve.

Hi:  This is where dentists make the big bucks. The only good news is that root canals for the front teeth are cheaper than the back teeth because the front teeth only have one root. The price also depends on what part of the country you live in.
