  1. If your lodging is already paid, and you are eating out, four people...figure  about 50 - 75 €, maybe 100 on a splurge day.

I think you can mange on under 10/day for breakfast.  Depending on where you are, and what you insist upon for meals, you might be looking at around 50 - 60 for lunch and dinner for lunch and dinner.  The two year old will probably eat whatever you put in front of him/her, and the six year old might be picky.  My son ate croquetas, pizza and cheese sandwiches/cheeseburgers for a whole month!  Wouldn't TOUCH the good stuff!  Sometimes those ran us more, sometimes less than the other meals.  If you can do tapas, you share a couple and you are set for a light meal.   Where you are will dictate how much you will pay for drinks.  In most places in Spain, the tap water is fine, good, sweet and tastes great.  In Barcelona, and maybe all along the coast, we had to buy bottled.

  2. If you have your flights payed for then to be on the really safe side about another 200/300 will more than do you,and play it clever go to the locals places, rather than all the tourist spots, and if you are self catering go to local markets where the native people shop,I was in Barcelona with my gf another and couple and we are drinkers plus we ate out all the time,we just went to the local spots, it cost us 44e for a meal for 4 and 2 bottles of wine plus 6 pints pretty cool,we went to an Irish bar coz we are from Ireland ha first and last time we done that it was 8e for a bottle of beer.

  3. Bearing in mind you don't intend to go on trips, which can eat the money up, I would hope that you could have a good holiday on 1000 euros.   For the 4 of you that represents around 71.5 euros per day.   I would suggest that you do a good shop in a large supermarket, buying plenty of water, soft drinks and all the things for the children that are costly if you buy them individually when you are out.  If you are going to eat out at all, it can be done quite cheaply, depending where you go.  I normally have a 3 course meal for around 10-12 euros, but of course on your budget you wouldn't want to do that every day, not that the children would want that much.   You will find the spanish supermarkets very reasonable and offering a good selection of things that you are familiar with.   So I would think if you share your meals between eating out and eating in, you will find the money should last OK.  But don't make the mistake of overspending first week, better to take it easy and have more for the second.   Have a great holiday.

  4. To be honest, it really depends where you go in spain. But I lived in costa del sol and went to gibraltar for day trips if i was bored. For two weeks, without planning much, i should think 1000 euros should be enough. Though take a card just to make sure. The banks in Spain give you an average amount for your money.

    Have a nice time.

  5. Your budget sounds fine, it really depends on where you intend to be based. Costa del Sol is more expensive than here in the Costa Blanca.

Try and shop in larger supermarkets like Carrefour or Mercadona cos small supermarkets near hotels and holiday flats tend to cater for tourists therefore are dearer.

When you choose to eat out, don't eat out on the beach front as you pay for the view, seek out small Spanish bar/restaurants in side street a 3 course menu of the day is almost always on a board outside and is around 7€ to 10€ each.

I'll give you an example of what I did the other evening...I took my grand daughter to the Bali hotel here in Benidorm, which is expensive, she wanted to see the evening show.  I took a small water in my bag for me, and bought J a bottle of coca cola (3.40€!!!!) You can go into any hotel  (usually) to watch the evening entertainment as long as you buy a drink. So I cheated a little, it's not really done, but hey we have to watch our money.

You sound like you have enough money and if you dont eat out every night you'll be fine

  6. My daughter and her husband and 2 kids age 10 and 2 arrived in Costa Dorada sunday morning half board and have spent £150 so far on lunch and drinks, buckets & spades, that is not including today's spending money, unsure what it is in euros.

  7. Personally ,i think you will need to take some moe money ,Last year my husband and I plus our 3 children went to salou, for 1 week, half board and we spent over 1000 pounds .This year we are going to Benidorm 1 week s/catering and plan to take about1600 pounds, money soon goes without realising. We only have 1 day trip out ,and spend most of the time in the pool or by the beach.Hope this helps as i wouldnt want you to go short .

  8. This was in Barcelona 2 weeks ago. Just a little help.

    1,5 l water 0,43-2 €

    1l milk 1,1€

    Orange juice 1-2 €

    baguette 0,5-1 €

    sausage 1,6-... €/pack

    cheese 2-10 €

    strawberry yoghurt danone 4 piece: 1,5  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚‚¬

restaurant: pasta dishes from 6 euro

    other dishes from 10-26 euro

    breakfast croissant+coffee 2,5 €

    pancake , gofri 2,9 euro

  9. You don't say where exactly you are going in Spain.

But being careful at your spending, I would budget 50€ per day per person, so 1000€ should be ok.
