  1. If you really wanna do that, money wouldn't be in your thoughts.

If they paid for the trips, again, money would be far from your mind since it's not what you're doing it for. If it were, I'd have to say you're doing it for the wrong reasons.

If you do get paid for it, I'm sure it's enough to live. You're not gonna be rich but you don't need to be.

Volunteer for a cause you'd like to be a MS for and ask when you get there.

  2. Raise money (flip burgers or whatever you have to do) to go on a mission trip and work in Africa. See what needs to be seen. Take notes. Take pictures. Then come home with all you experience and put together a power point presentation of your trip. Practice in front of a mirror, talking from your heart. You've seen it. You've been there. You held a dying child in your arms. Speak with the conviction that comes from wisdom not books.

Then, contact all you local civic clubs: Lions Club, Rotary Club, womens' clubs, church elderly meetings, etc. Tell them that you would like to be considered as a guest speaker next time you have an opening. Fill your calendar with speaking engagements from your schools (February is Black History month - can you be a guest speaker at local Elementary schools?) and clubs and churches. (Don't talk about dying children to little school kids, but emphasize the poverty "These kids didn't even have shoes!" and "no doctors when you're sick" and how we are so blessed to live in this country at this time.)

Everywhere you speak, you ask for a recommendation of who else would like your presentation.

About the money. If they ask how much you charge, you can say, "what do you recommend?" or "I'll accept a love offering to help fund my next trip" (if it's a church).

After the speech, you ask the hiring person if he/she will write you a "to whom it may concern" letter to recommend you to other clubs. Hand this person a stamped, self-addressed envelope! Ask if they could possibly get it back to you within a week.

Buy a three ring binder with clear page protectors. Print out some of your photos of your trip & put them in the pages. Put your letters of recommendation in the page protectors, too. Now you have started a portfolio to take to interviews of jobs you have done. Someone hiring will be impressed with all the places you've already been, and that so many people think so highly of you that they'll write a letter about it! That & a degree in Journalism? Communications? will give you an edge over the other candidates.

      Best to you.
