  1. A lot of schools do NOT teach Woodwork.  For the last 20 years it has been CDT (Craft Design Technology), the teachers have had to be highly experienced in Woodwork, Metal Craft, Engineering and Technical Drawing.

  2. You will start on roughly £20,000. After each year this pay gradually increases...on the Main pay scale.

The link below shows you how as you progress up the scale, your wage increases.

    http://www.teachers.org.uk/topichome.php...

(go to the part that says section 2 pay scales 2008-11) and download the excel document for the area in which you will be teaching. The scale lasts for 6 years, so with each year you move up it providing you meet certain aims etc.

As for in ten years time, it is hard to make a judgement, if you take on extra responsibilities, then you will get more pay. You could become a behavioural support manager but still teach, which will give you extra responsibilities but more money. You may have also progressed on to be the deputy headteacher or even the headteacher.

More information is also available from:

    Hope this helps you some.

  3. The main pay scale for secondary teachers in the UK in all subject area's is now £20,633.

It's impossible to work out how much they would make after 10 years because they would have pay rises and that varies depending on the job, school and responsibilities.

  4. Depends how long it took to make the wood into paper for the dollar bills.

  5. Hi there. You would be on a sliding scale like all teachers and would most probably start at just over 20k (unless you are central london or london fringe, where you get more). The pay scale then goes up incrementally for 5 'chunks' until you end up around 25k, unless you take on extra responsibilities or roles within the school.

Just to let you know though, it is rare that you would be able to train just as a woodwork teacher, unless you just wanted to lecture evening classes or something. Where I trained (Homerton, cambridge), the subject was DT - so they had to cover subjects like home ec. and graphic design too. Though you could of course specialise in your chosen area.

    Hope this helps. x
