  1. Haha mate you just answered you own question. "I'm gonna be with my wife". You should know better than anyone that means you gotta double your budget. I'm sure you just smiled and realised thats true. Have a nice holiday!

  2. Too broad a question ? It depends where you will going and what you are doing there ? I stayed in Cebu twice in last few years and spent between 23 - 30$ for a nice motel  room . I was there for three weeks both times so If I went to a nicer motel then over 100$ could be the norm . You did not mention if your wife is a Filippina ? My wife is and always was able to get us cheaper rooms through her connections there . In short , I would say 2500 is plenty unless you are choosing an expensive motel . You can also look at the web site :   Livinginthephilippines for info . Many of the members there are americans currently living  there .  Best of luck !

  3. There are excellent hotels that are not that expensive but you won't find them on the travel sites like price line.

I stay in a very nice hotel in Manila that's about 40-50 dollars depending on date and occupancy.  Here in Cebu there's some nice clean hotel with few amenities but start at less than $25 / day.

You pay big for brand name here.  but these folks have their own well known properties in the Orient that stay busy.

If you want a resort you need more money.

I could do it on much less.  Then I could blow that in a day if I wanted.

  4. Your hotel bill will be the most expensive part of your stay. So bring your credit cards. All major hotels accept Amex, Visa, Mastercard.

That 2,500$$ is basically for food, outings, souvenirs, transportation and that's more than enough for a week.

... and if it's not, go to an ATM.

    Have fun!

  5. It doesn't matter how much you take, you'll spend it all.

  6. For one week I would take about 3-4K, but I would make sure I had 5K just to be safe.  Once you get there you are going to want to do more than you planned so bring more money.  Of course if you don't do anything and just stay at home then what you're bring should be enough.
