  1. Outside of the big cities, housing is cheaper here in Canada.

In Southern Ontario where I live, it is possible to buy a brand new, three bed-roomed, detached house for around $200,000 Canadian, or £100,000 - you can't get that in Manchester, that's for sure!

At the moment food is more expensive in the UK, fuel is also more expensive there.

Clothing seems to be about the same, soap & shampoo might be a little cheaper.

If you are thinking about coming to Canada, check out my website - http://www.discover-southern-ontario.com - there are sections on the housing market here, some of our lovely villages and towns, the Nature & Wildlife of the area.

  2. it depends where you go...usually housing is cheaper, but in the cities it can get pretty expensive. Vancouver is probablly the or one of the most expensive, but not compared to somewhere like London.

  3. It depends on where in Canada you're going but I've found that the cost of living is much lower - rent is insanely cheap (about half in Nova Scotia) compared to the UK. Public transport (buses and local trains) is cheaper but groceries cost about the same.

  4. its all about what you are purchasing and where you want to live.  As with the UK the places where people really want to live OR there are lots of people looking the prices of housing are going to be greater.  I live in a small city my sister lives in a big one she paid more for her small house than I did for my larger on on a larger lot.

I've found that some items in Tescos are cheaper than in Canada and I've found the reverse to be true you have to know your prices.  I would say that Canada comes out a little a head because our energy prices are lower BUT we do spend more on energy because of the distances and climate.

  5. its about the same

  6. Housing is a lot cheaper! It always takes my breath away on how much people in the U.K have to spend on houses. Ofcourse, housing prices vary from province to province. I believe British Columbia has some of the highest housing prices, along with Alberta. Where I live in Manitoba, they are fairly decent, my house is probably 1/5 of what it would sell for in England.

Food is generally the same price, somethings are a little cheaper then others, but nothing too extreme. (Just like prices vary at supermarkets.)

Petrol is cheaper in Canada, we pay roughly just over half of what the U.K does, though we also do a lot more driving.

Clothing is generally the same price, eating out in roughly the same price....

    Need to know anything else?
