  1. their was a survey of 5000 people to see how much they would say 20% said £3.80 was the max and 50% said £1.80 and the way this war is going it wont stop till its £3 odd which is about £30 to a gallon just hope that the fule is found in some places that you wouldnt emagin like your garden so it gose up by %500 and drops like mad

  2. Got an e mail this week recommending that if we all that is ALL boycott the big 4 and all that is ALL only use the smaller guys then the big boys would be forced to reduce the cost.  Can only do this if the masses do it together

Have deleted the e mail now but it is doing the rounds so wait a bit and you will probably recieve it

    d**n good idea though

    Boycot the big boys

    Show them who's boss

  3. Sooner rather than later hopefully.

What do we pay Road Tax for? Surely this is for the upkeep of our roads!!!

  4. Don't moan   just pay.   I would still drive if it was twice the price

  5. We will protest with our vote (when we get the oportunity!)

  6. Funnily enough I had an email this week about the latest tactic which is apparently to boycott the big two petrol companies until the price drops I think 69p a litre was mentioned ie force bp and esso to drop the price .

  7. Unfortunately the dependency on forgien oil is not going away. Despite haveing to pay 3.00/gallon people still need to get to work, home and other places. Prices for the most part flucuate on demand and supply. When supply becomes low the prices go up. When he have a large increase in supply the prices ease back.

As far as the government raising the gas tax, that is the government manipulating the people. They could fix the price in a second if they wanted too, we (the US) have a enourmous supply of gas that we OWN, but because the goverment is concerned that in the future (50,100+ years) that Iran and other suppliers will not have the supply they currently have so they will have to depend on our oil.  With the goverments trillion dollars worth of debts, dont count on a gas tax cut anytime soon.

  8. STOP WHINING AND BECOME A PROTESTOR YOURSELF-YOU CANT EXPECT EVERYTHING TO BE DONE FOR YOU!if that seems to hard then SHUT THE f**k UP!!!!!!!

  9. You see nothing happens in this world if there is apathy or people will not take responsibility. You are obviously unhappy with the rising price, but you are content to wait for others to start protesting. I am no different but what I am trying to say is, if we do nothing but merely wait in the background for others to act, then we have no right to complain. Its just like people who complain about the Government but don't bother to vote.

  10. in England never France 1% we have forgoten how to complain we roll over and accept it

  11. Government needs the money to maintain the roads and streets. The tax is to ensure you have safe roads to drive one and not ones full of pot holes. Otherwise the government needs to simply find another way to tax the people.

  12. Their already protesting.

  13. The increase in tax by the government is not much compared to the overall fluctuations to the price of petrol.

While I don't like the cost fo fuel; at least it'll make us think before we take the car out now.......

  14. A long way to go yet.

It is still cheaper to go by car than public transport.

When I got my first car, petrol was 22 pence a gallon.

Its 25 times that now. [goodness ime old]

It will be a lot dearer soon.

What can you do about inflation?

  15. If it hits 5 dollars a gallon the cost of living will change to fit  that cost. I remember the so-called oil embargo of the early 70's....yeah right! We were told to converse ...and conserve we did...smaller cars, well insulated homes, recycling and everything else we could do to save the planet. That made for a re-think in our government. Boy they did. So they went and invented wars to offset the cost  lost in conserving. We do drive to much and there are to many cars on the roads so our government wants us to take notice that they can still get tax money out of us even though we conserve..... Just double the tax by doubling the  price of anything we use for energy ...... Sales tax on a  gallon of  gas at $1.25 (70's)  was about 7 cents  at $3.25 (2007) its about 25 cents. Average mpg in the 70's was 12 to 15 in V8 engines, toady's average in 4 cylinders engines is about  25 to 30 mph. Wont make a difference if we conserve more they will invent something else to blame us with. What happen to our scientists, our inventors. We need to cut off OPEC at their game.....Say no to foreign oil again...... Keep your oil and will keep our troops here to protect our borders ...... not your profits!!!!!!

  16. many are protesting with their bicycles

  17. they should be protesting now,as we pay more tax than anyone else, and only 20% of road tax go's back into mainteneince, the rest is kept by the government.remember this is rip - off - Britain
