How much more would one expect to pay for insurance,to cover a channel crossing to Amsterdam?

Presuming you have standard yacht insurance, you should be covered , so it should not cost you anymore.

Most standard yacht insurances cover you for the range of and I quote "United Kingdom inland and coastal waters, English Channel, Brest/ Elbe limits"

Why not ask your insurers what range you are insured for.
