when you lose your mucus plug, how much should there be? Like a teaspoon? More? Less? Because I have been losing mine for over a week now, slowly at first, but these last 2 days, there has been alot of discharge, tinted with blood. My midwife says its normal, but it seems to me like there is more than there should be...... If I had to guess I would say I've lost about 2 Tablespoons so far. Is this okay???

  1. I started losing mine about a week and a half ago and at first it varied from a lot to a little here in there all within 4 days. I had a doctors appt Wednesday and my doctor stretched me and that night i had a lot more come out then some more in the morning then a little bit here in there since then. So it can definetly come out in all different sizes and amounts ! Your perfectly fine...

  2. Well your mucous plug has the ability to regenerate itself to try to protect the covering of the cervix and prevent infection. If you've started dilating to where it can't cover the opening effectively it's just going to keep coming out.  I lost mine once and it was very typical.  Then a few days later I just had pink mucous.  Of course I ended up being induced a week and a half after that.

  3. I lost mine over a period of two weeks. I had a ton of discharge it recently stopped this week. The blood is probably your show which happens shortly before baby is born.

  4. I don't think there is an "exact" amount... I didn't loose my mucus plug with my first, and my second I did over a period of about a week. I didn't even end up going into labor on my own .......
