  1. 3 weeks minimum

  2. I usually send out invitations 3 weeks before.  If it is a smaller party then I just call my guests. If I am just calling them I call 2 weeks before the party.

  3. Give them some advanced notice so that they don't plan anything else for that day.  In conversation or on a phone call a month or so ahead of time just state that on this day you are having a party and let them know you’d like them to come.  It will be a good way to have an idea about how many will be there so you can plan.  Then a couple of weeks before go ahead and pass out invitations for RSVP.  But not everybody does respond so some follow up calls might be good to firm up the number you can expect.

    Have Fun!

14 is a good age to start developing good habits.  If you get known for being good at organizing parties now, by the time you graduate high school you'll be the one that folks come to when they want to have a party.

A party is planned.  Just hanging out is cool too, but requires not as much thought, and peeps have less expectations.
