my daughter is 16 months old,, and so far she goes to nursery two mornings,, but due to the fact both sets of grandparents live hundreds of miles away,, and we need to work more hours in order to eventually move house,,, she will start to go 2 mornings and 1 full day

i know that millions of people put their children in full time cos they have to work,, but 4 sessions seem a lot to me

what does everyone else think is ok??

  1. I know that these day it is more usual/necessary for the two of you having to work to make ends meet but my wife was at home with all of ours children until thy went to school and that's how we wanted to it, we did try nursery but found it upsetting for the child and ourselves.

  2. As long as you spend time with her outside of the day care.

My daughter spends one morning(8 AM-12 PM),one afternoon(1-3 PM or 2-4 PM depending on my schedule) and one full day(8-AM-6 PM) at a home day care, but I spend a lot of time with her. I'm a single mom and I need to make money. On Friday we have Girls Night and we spend a lot of time with each other. As a treat, she gets to stay up until 9:30, which is an hour and fifteen minutes after her bedtime reguarly.

Just spend time with your daughter as much as possible. And this is FOR HER, so it's not bad.

When my daughter was 2 I had to put her in for FIVE full days, because money was seriously tight. But now we're better.

    Good luck!

  3. It will be an adjustment, but if you have a competent caregiver, the child will enjoy the company of other children, and you will also will accomplish your goals also.  I don't feel this a a HUGH amount of time, some kids are left 50 hours or more a week.  Best wishes to you!!!

  4. As long as she is well cared for, you have to do what you have to do.  Seeing as you are already concerned, it looks like you will do what you can to provide the best for her.  At least it is because you need her to go, I know plenty of people who send their kids to day care and don't even work!  They think it is better for their socialization, to bad they are missing out on precious mommy and daddy time.  You and she will be fine, just remember to give her all that attention when you get home!

  5. that doesnt sound to bad to me, im hoping to do the same once our little one is older, were lucky our parents live just down the road so hopefully they will be able to baby sit when i need to go back to work, so wish i didnt have to work afterwards! but with how expensive things are now i doubt we will be able to cope on one wage. :-(

  6. i think what ever you feel comfy doing,

i work in a nursery we have a baby 5 months thats in nursery 5 days a week all day, i dont personally agree with this but everyone has a choice and are in different situations.

    Do whatever you feel best
