Question:

How much of a difference is there between Russian and Checcetti ballet? which is better to know?

i've been training russian for the past 9 years, and i was considering a new studio..the problem is, they only offer checcitti...would it be hard for me to switch? should i switch, or is russian better to know?

  1. Personally,  I believe that Vagonova (Russian) makes you a prettier dancer, but Checcetti makes you a more versatile dancer.   Knowing both is even better.

    The switch will not be as hard as you might think,  it might be a bit akward at first, but if you dont force the change, it will come naturally in a year or so.

    If the new studio would be a better match for you, then go ahead and switch.


  2. there are 3 different types of ballet Russian, Cecetti and RAD.

    the way i understand the differences in that RAD is the techniqual style, very focused on technique and how you execute steps. Cecetti has a high focus on the presentation side of ballet while technique is important it is not as highly focused on as RAD. the arms tend to flow and blend from position to position more than the other styles. the Russian style... i believe that is is similar to the Cecetti method but it doesn't flow as much. the hands tend to be left behind and they break (their line of being continuos and going on forever is broken by the wrists.) its up to you to decided which you like. hope that helps a little. happy dancing! =)
