Question:

How much of a difference would running the 100m on uneven ground make?

i ran 12.7 at regionals(hand timed) and then i just went out on my road and ran a pathetic 13.5-13.7 and was wondering if that was because the road is higher for one of my feet and the other was hitting lower ground. Would this make a difference or was my time at regionals wrong?

  1. It was a combination it's pretty hard to tell you because of ho little we know about your road but i know the people that time things like regionals... they don't really do it that well.... but you might have messed up if you timed yourself

  2. There is no way you can figure out what kind of time you could have run on uneven ground.

Besides the fact that the course was not level, meaning that you might have run uphill or downhill.

Hand timing is never going to be accurate, but at least  you have an idea as to how fast you can run, where as running on a road or the grass is not going to tell you anything.

  3. I think that it would make a big difference.   Also, at regionals you would be running harder against competition.
