How much of a raise should I request when promoted from assistant manager to manager of a retail store?

  1. That's a simple question with a complex answer. I believe the main concern is how much do you think you are worth as a manager, the sales volume, the number of employees and a few other factors.

    As an example my wife is the manager of a Game Store with the highest volume for her district and she got paid $28,000 per year when she was initially promoted. Her store only has about 5 employees.

    She received a $3,000 raise after one year as manager, but she is still paid $2,000 less than the normal for retail managers for other stores in this area.

    I don't know how much help this is, but I hope it offers some guidance.
