  1. The RNC is planning some type of disaster relief drive to help those affected by the hurricaine. They're going to have a fundraiser as well as collecting donated supplies. The exact details are being worked out. They also plan to encourage volunteers to pitch in as appropriate and as requested by the local authorities. The politicians themselves have vowed to take turns at the convention so they can each donate time and effort to helping with the crisis. It's the living embodiment of their "Country First" platform that they've been promoting.

  2. It's going to be split-screen reporting. RNC on one side, trying to have a good time energizing their base; Gustav on the other terrorizing the Gulf Coast. First, a lot of Republican delegates are not showing up, now they'll have to share center stage with Mother Nature. Irony is a mother...

  3. it might play a role, but definitely not a roll

  4. lots.

keeping bush and cheney away will be a real benefit.

  5. Conventions are mere theatrical productions which no longer have any bearing on the nominations. I'll stick to Gustav or anything else that is non-political.

  6. Hurricane Gustav... Gods way of saying "Don't pay attention to the RNC!"
