Have been working for the company for almost 4 years and have been in an Internal Auditing position for a year in October. Was moved to salary and got a pay increase when I took this position last October and am wondering how much of a salary increase to ask for? Is there a % to go buy or just a $ value?

  1. I don't know how much. I know where I work we get paid hourly and at the start of each new year we get a small (I do mean small) increase. Then a few months later we get our yearly review and get a pay increase based on that.

If you do a percentage increase I would do some research for people in your field to see what kind of increase they get and how often.  It could also be based on performance, and education.  And how long you have been in your position.

  2. It would sound really bad if you asked for an x amount of dollar value it sounds unprofessional.  The key is to keep it professional.  so do some research and ask for a certain %.
