i have 1mm speaker wire, and it will most likely be going to 150 watt speakers.

what effect would that have?

would the power be to much for the wire and melt it?

does the wire effect sound quality?

also, i have 2004 corvette speakers in my car. the speakers sound amazing, but the bose sub woofer tends to pop or click when i turn it up about half way. im not sure but i think it can turn up much louder then how much it does when it starts to pop. here is a picture of it, http://i10.ebayimg.com/02/i/06/fa/24/eb_1.JPG

does anyone have any input on why it might do that?

  1. Length matters the most when determining gauge.  In a car the wire gauge wouldnt matter.   Popping and clicking can be many htings,, bad grounding anywhere in the system, or a blown speaker is a couple I can think of.

  2. We'll lets put it this way. Take a stir straw and try to get as much through it as possible. Kinda hard to do. Then take a regular straw and see how much better it flows and the volume. So as you increase your wire size it gives allot more surface area for voltage to flow across, Thus allowing more to get where its going in better shape once it gets there.

    Good luck

  3. Use 12 gauge speaker wire nothing smaller. The 12 gauge speaker wire will allow a clear pathway for the signal to travel through to your speakers.
