Question:

How much of my money should I spend gambling?

This is an opinion poll of course, there are no rules. I don't have a lot of money and what I have is hard earned. After giving it a lot of thought I've settled on $8 a pay period or $16 a month for two lottery numbers ( Florida lotto is 2 X a week ). Do you think that's overdoing it for someone who brings home under 30,000 and lives alone? Or do you spend even a bigger percentage of your check?

(I'm not interested in hearing that I shouldn't gamble at all - that ain't gonna happen. Even tho the chance is miniscule it still cheers me up and gives me a little ray of sunshine in this dreary life to think it COULD happen)

  1. The only time anyone should gamble is if they intend on losing the money, it will be money spent for entertainment just like if you went to the movie. If you are gambling with the intention of walking away a winner, then don't do it.

  2. You shouldn't gamble at all.

  3. You should spend an amount of money that would not bother you or put you in a dire situation if you lost it.

  4. I'm against gambling.  I see far too many senior citizens and young successful people get caught up in the gambling scene spending money they don't have and filing for bankruptcy.

Stay away from gambling if it's not already a problem for you.

  5. only what you can afford to lose

  6. I think $20 is enough to spend no more. If you can't win something within $20 go home.

  7. Well, I'm going to tell you anyways, don't gamble. It will only decrease your savings over time. The chances of winning the lottery are extremely thin. That's $192 a year you could save. Since you don't seem to make much money (no offense), that could be money well spent.

  8. All of it!  I feel it, I just feel it!  This next one'll be the BIG WINNER!  Then (huff, huff) . . . then you can stop . . .
