Why is it that the William Sisters and Roddick. especially this year, are always hurt in matches other than Grand Slams, yet when they play in Grand Slams they play with no signs of injuries, and Roddick has hardly played in any matches.missed the Olympics while all other players ie Federer, Nadal and others play very near every tournement. No wonder Roddick is having a great run in the US Open.

  1. Roddick is very smart for not playing the Olympics.  I only wish the Williams sisters would've followed his example.  Anyone who follows tennis knows that the US Open is 100 times more important than the Olympic games.  Who cares who wins the stupid Olympics?

Yeah, Agassi won the Gold medal, but everyone knows that Sampras was the best player.  The Olympics are just another tournament....only they are of lesser value because they aren't open to all professional tennis players.

  2. Roddick isn't injured right now.

wilde4.... I love your answer accounting the No Class acts of te entire Williams family. Do you rememeber serena saying that Henin "got lucky"?

Yeah, I guess "being lucky" was the reason for Henin being #1 in the world at the time.

  3. The Williams sisters are dreadful - remember when Henin beat them both at the US Open (was it last year?) Serena came out and said Henin won by getting a few 'lucky shots' her father also came out and said 'by the way Serena had an injury she wasn't telling you about.  Then when Venus lost she said that she had felt sick during the match.

Roddick on the other hand I haven't seen such lame excuses from I would generally think that when he says he is injured he actually is.  The ones to watch on the men's are Novak DJ who is notorious for putting bad losses to injury and strangely Richard Gasquet who once (according at least to Johnny Mac) withdrew from a US Open match feeling unwell though the doctors could find nothing wrong with him.

  4. andy is not injured right now.-

he was injured at he middle of the year, and i don't get your point, he didn't played in rolland garros and played like c**p and lost 2nd round in wimbledon, i don't get what you mean by no sign of injuries.-

you say he's faking his injuries, that might be it, and that's why he's has so many great results lately (really?, zero tittles and 1 final??)

as for the williams sisters,  they haven't had many injuries. they said it last year, they were gonna play only a few tournaments a year, cause they kinda of tired.-

  5. 'Always hurt other than Grand Slams'......I'm not quite sure that is strictly speaking true. I recall Serena squealing from pain at Wimbledon last year, and sporting some heavy strapping in others.

Even though the Nadal's and Djokovic's choose to play almost every tounament, I've seen them with a catalogue of injuries (knee problems/ blisters etc) and play awful. Jelena Jankovic is another player that plays 'everything' and look at the amount of injuries she's carrying, and she hasn't even won any majors!

Personally, I think what the Williams and Roddick does is smart, to prevent aggravating small injuries in low profile tournaments and saving themselves for the big tournaments that matter more.
