How much of the UK/Britains energy is provided by Fossil Fuels?

  1. In the year 2005 the percentage of energy derived from major sources was as follows;

    natural gas  40%

    oil  33%

    coal  17%

    nuclear  8%

    renewable  2%

  2. I heard it is about 75-80%, most of which come from North Sea gas and oil. In the past it was mostly run by coal, but most of the coal mines have shut down. Unfortunately I don't have a source on hand so my figures may be dated.
