How much of the lack of ability to spell correctly on Q&A is due to computer language, poor teaching in school

i would simply say laziness. the wonder of the internet is the speed at which people can communicate, and frankly, it just takes too much time to capitalize these letters. however i do agree that people should try to spell words correctly, because often times it is nearly impossible to translate their garbaged versions of our language. plus i am afraid as well that this does reflect on students ability to write properly in the classroom! but then again im a college student and havent had the internet available my whole lifetime, so maybe the effect is worse on younger people.

Most of the spelling errors on here have to do with laziness.  People don't take this website seriously.  So, they don't care if they spell correctly or not.  They want to ask and answer questions as quickly as possible without thinking about spelling at all.  Most kids are taught how to spell, and they can if they want to.  They just don't understand why proper communication is important.  I think it is a maturity thing.
