How much opportunity is in Egypt for archaeology?

I want to major in archaeology and minor in egyptology. I have fallen in love with egyptology yet want to give myself more opportunities for when I will work as and archaeologist/egyptologist.

egypt is a very tough place to get permission to dig as they are very picky about who goes there. you need to be with a prestigious university who already has precedence there.
