  1. havent worked in the nursery for about 3 years, but we never did overtime, the nursery has set times, 9-11.30 and 1-3, occasionally you would get a parent 5 mins late, but that was few and far between, and when i worked in a private nursery, we all worked different shifts, i worked 9.30 - 5.30 and again, other people worked other shifts, so never did overtime

  2. I do loads of work at home - planning for the year/week/day, writing up observations and children's development records, preparing  crafts.  None of which I am paid for.  I work extra hours to cover staff sickness sometimes and attend staff meetings (often in the evening) which I do get paid for but not an 'over-time' rate.

  3. It depends on the hours a nursery is open, and the hours you are contracted to work. For example, our nursery is open 8-6 every day. We have staff who are contracted to work 37 hours a week and they will be doing various shifts such as 8-4, 9-5 or 10-6. These staff will rarely be asked to do overtime, apart from staff meetings in the evening twice a term, and maybe the odd hour here and there. We have staff who are part time, and they may be asked to do extra to cover holidays or sickness. It is not compulsory, but it helps the rest of the team out.

    Hope that helps

  4. Unpaid over time about 2 hours a week sometimes more---dont get paid for the paperwork I do outside setting such as planning sheets, childs review books etc. I get training paid for but dont actually get paid to attend out of setting time meeting.training days.
