How much pain were you in when you got it? I've gotten so many answers from "none at all" to "it was horrible". What was your experience? im thinking of getting a simple dove with not much detail.

  1. Your positioning sounds like it won't be TOO painful. But I mean, every tattoo is somewhat painful. Pain is sorta weird and hard to explain. People have different tolerances to pain. Pain can even feel "good" to some people. That sounds weird but the pain and pleasure sensations are connected. It's kind of a rush. Anyway, done with rambling, a tattoo will always hurt. It just depends on if you can take the pain. I had no problem handling my two very small tattoos. Neither lasted more than 10 minutes. But I plan on getting a much bigger one when I have money. It will be on my ribs which I know will be painful and will take hours to actually complete. My answer would be, if you want the tattoo bad enough, you'll be willing to go through what it takes. If it was completely unbearable, I doubt so many people would have them, ya know?

  2. it all depends on your bodys pain tolerance(remember its self inflicted so it will hurt less for a start). i have both my feet tattooed(full covereage on the top) same design apart from colours and writing. the left one didnt hurt too much(just had a good breakfast), but the right one hurt a noticeable amount more(i had a good breakfast, paracetamol and a few sugary drinks to get my blood levels higher).

it also depends on how gentle the tattooist is and how professional they are at their job(eg many self taught tattooists dont drive the needle deep enough causing them to go over it many times, which means more pain. also some drive it too deep, which causes scarring once healed) so id go to an artist you feel comfortable with or have been recommended

having other tattoos other than my feet(which is supposed to be in, say, the top 5 most painful) id say a) the fleshiest bits and b) the bits where the bone is closest to the surface are the most painful(particularly b). also heard that from tons of others

and generally the outline hurts the most, so you dont feel shading/colouring as much

    hope that helps :)

  3. It depends entirely on your own personal nervous system, and the location (on yoru body) of the tattoo. I have nine tattoos (all fairly large) in various locations about my body. One I have did not hurt AT ALL, but the ones I have on my feet made me feel rather faint.

A general, fairly accurate (in my experience) way to describe the pain associated with tattoos is like getting stung by a bee over and over. The healing is like a sunburn... I've personally never cried/thrown up/actually fainted from any tats. I think they're worth whatever pain your feel in the process of getting them.

  4. I got one on my back right underneath my neck and it didn't really hurt. It's just annoying feeling that you'll wanna hurry up and get over with

  5. i'll break it down by the places i have mine, and those of my fiances

    mine-

back of shoulder- hurt like a mo fo. i didn't make her stop but it made me want to crawl out of my skin. outlining was no prob. it was all the coloring that bothered me. the going over and over in one area that gets to hurting.

top of shoulder- didn't hurt that bad. minor discomfort

thigh- was a hot dull pain

ankle- no real pain at all, when the artist hit a nerve and made my toes curl we laughed over that

top of foot- really painful. i cursed a lot. lots of nerves there so my toes were jerking, muscles twitching. yeah not good.

but i have to get it redone so i will have to go through that again.

    worth it in the end.

fiances- both shoulders done in large tribal- not too bad, coloring was the most painful

chest- done in 2 parts. has a large cross and his 3 sisters names done around the cross. reallllly painful.

then on a drunk dare he got his then wife's name done inside the cross. even stone drunk he said it hurt like the dickens.

that sucks for him bcse he's getting it covered up when he gets back from a business trip lol

  6. I got a tattoo on my wrist, and honestly it wasn't that bad. I mean it hurt a little, but i wasn't balling my fist or tightening my jaw. It was completely bareable for me, and totally worth it. I felt the pain wasn't bad at all.
