How much paint do I need to do a 10x10 room with 9 foot ceilings? (not painting the ceilings).

  1. It all depends on what color you have on now.  If it is a really dark, strong, or bright color it might be hard to cover it up so you should use primer first.  You also should do two coats of whatever color you are painting.  I would start with about two or three gallons of the color.


  2. Each wall is 10 x 9, or 90 square feet. Four walls makes that 360 square feet, each can does 400 square feet

  3. 1 gallon will do 1 coat in your room, so better get 2

  4. This really cant be answered properly unless you state what type of wall you have..is it a smooth wall..a orange peel texture..a knock down texture, A skipped troweled texture or what... The heavier the texture..the more paint you will need..on skipped trowel you will only get about 100 foot coverage per gallon where on smooth you will get about 350 square feet...

    Paint cans are labeled for how many square feet of coverage you can expect. IIRC, it might even be 400 to the gallon on many paints.

    If you're changing the wall color significantly, though, you'll probably need two coats.
