Question:

How much patient interaction does a Pharmacist have?

Once I am done with pharmacy tech school I plan on becoming a Doctor of Pharmacy. I am curious how much a pharmacist interacts with their patients? I really want to be able to counsel my patients and stuff like that.

  1. Not much- If you want a lot of patient contact then you need to study medicine


  2. I agree with the above answer.

    I worked as an assistant for 8 years in pharmacy and the assistants and technicians do most of the interaction (the pharmacists come out, though, if we need them).  Put it this way, I have known socially introverted pharmacists who feel comfortable working in pharmacy as they had so little interaction with people, it didn't really bother them...and that was community pharmacy, too. =)
