  1. None, you can distill using a Solar distilling unit. You can build it yourself.

  2. other than shipping and harvesting, it doesn't take petrol to make ethanol.

And now, since most people are using biodeisel, to ship and harvest the stuff, it takes even less.

How much exactly, pretty much depends on the machine used to harvest, and the method of transport, and their fuel efficiencies.

  3. It's a 70 gas/30 ethanol ratio so just do the math.

  4. It takes one cup of oil to make a kid's nappie if that helps.

  5. None. Ethanol is not made from oil or petrol or using either one,  Ethanol is alcohol, made from plants containing starch/sugar by the action of yeasts. Heating the fermented mash to cause the alcohol to evaporate into a condenser is called distillation.  Has been used with whiskey for centuries. The fuel for heating the mash can be anything that burns, wood, peat, coal, waste plants, coal, gas or furnace oil, even solar heat can be used.

The ideal vehicle would be a plug-in electric car for short trips, which carried an on-board steam powered generator for long trips, which would increase the mileage and lower the cost.  E-mail  beesidemeusa@yahoo.co.uk  and ask about this idea.

  6. it doesn't work that way. never mind. lol

  7. ethanol is a different fluid from petrol ... it is usually produced from bio waste and molasses from sugar mills ...

  8. nol is nothing more than Alcohol

As reported in "The Energy Balance of Corn Ethanol: an Update",[17] the energy returned on energy invested (EROEI) for ethanol made from corn in the U.S. is 1.34 (it yields 34% more energy than it takes to produce it). Input energy includes natural gas based fertilizers, farm equipment, transformation from corn or other materials, and transportation. However, other researchers report that the production of ethanol costs more energy than it yields.[18]

  9. It currently takes about 0.74 L of oil to produce 1 L of ethanol.  The rest of the energy comes from the sun (growing the plants).  Compare that to the 1.4 L of oil it takes to deliver 1 L of oil.
