  1. Not a lot. You will learn techniques to disarm or subdue someone stronger than you with minimum effort.

  2. Physical strength isnt a big role in a Police Officer. You have to be more smart and mentally ready for what you are going to see.

In my dept we small people lie as in shirt and skinny.

In the academy you will learn how to protect yourself with manuvers and techniques.

  3. Sufficient strength to pass the pre-academy physical agility test....

Once you get in, then the PT regimen will build up your strength and endurance.

It's not just about strength - it's how you use what you got....

    Calif Deputy

  4. As long as you can pass the physical agility test, you will be fine.

You are never required to go hand-to-hand with an offender. If they are actively resisting, you can use pepper spray, taser, or baton.  In most instances, you will have backup on scene also.

As far as taking control of someone passively resisting, you will find technique and momentum are much more effective than strength alone.

  5. Just enough strength to pull your weapon out of your holster and squeeze the trigger several times

  6. None. its common sense that prevails.
