  1. What you have chosen to do is difficult but very rewarding. You do not get to join SWAT right away. You need to be an academy (or equivalent, dependant on location) graduate and more than likely have a number of years as a regular officer under your belt before being allowed to try out. My brother is a SWAT team leader and he paid his dues big-time to get on SWAT. It is a highly competitive position so they take only the best.

All military branches have SWAT-like teams that are just as good and well trained as the civilian version. Plus, they get to travel a lot. I was in the Marines and we have Military Police units like SWAT as well as mobile units like FAST Teams (Fleet Antiterrorist Security Teams). They do some SWAT-type things as well.

Remember, these operators are all professionals, not Rambos. (That type of thinking will get you kicked out faster than you can think.) They train hard and constantly. When you are in, though, you will have the time of your life.

Talk to Military recruiters or police officers. Both will be eager to tell you what they can offer. Good luck!

my advice, is to become an MP, and then become an officer. usually you have to be the top of the class in your academy. and then the techers will talk to you about further training for your advancement
