  1. you shouldnt get a cheap amp it will overheat fast. go with a good amp with a cooling fan around 600watts..

  2. any amp that has about 300watts RMS @ the correct impedance (ohms) and is also CEA-compliant which means that the amp makes or exceeds the advertised RMS (continuous) wattage with minimum distortion (distortion is the main cause of speaker damage)

the amp needed will depend of the subs impedance (ohms) and voice coil setup (SVC or DVC)

i would recommend a mono (1 channel amp) over a 2 or multi-channeled amp because they are made just for subs and will run cooler

P1 subs are SVC and can be either 4 or 8ohms

if you have the 4ohm version you can get a 2 or 8ohm load at the amp depending on your wiring

if you have the 8ohm version you will get a 4ohm load at the amp

this link will help you with your sub wiring for different impedance's (ohms) at the amp http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer...

the lower the final impedance at the amp the easier/cheaper it is to power but the lower the sound quality (2ohms at the amp is fine though)

as long as the amp is CEA-compliant and properly matched it should not overheat, here are the CEA-compliant brands

    Alpine

    Bazooka

    Blaupunkt

    Clarion

    Eclipse

    Infinity

    JBL

    JL Audio

    JVC

    Kenwood

    Kicker

    Memphis

    MTX

    Orion

    Pioneer

    Polk Audio

    PPI

    Rockford Fosgate

    Sony

here is a site with good prices on amps http://www.sonicelectronix.com/

  3. Any particular price range?

If you want cheap - try out some Insignia - Dual - Boss - Lanzar - Pyramid amps....you can usually get one out of a trash can for next to nothing.

Or you can try a 300 watt Rockford Fosgate amplifier (they run about 250.00 from Best Buy or other. Alpine also offers a small and very strong mono block MRP-M500 for about 200.00

Both will bounce your Betties nicely.
