I have my permit and I'm a little discouraged at my slow progress. How long did it take you to get good enough to not worry all the time?

  1. I have had my liscense for about 4 years and I am about 20. I practiced alot over about 6 months before I tried. practice on interstates and high traffic areas with your parents. I never feel 100 percent safe because I have seen many dangerous people on the roads. Good Luck and for real ALWAYS where you seat belt.

  2. Depends on where you are driving. If you are mostly puttering around in a small town with no traffic when you drive, then it will probably take you longer to get used to all of the things that seasoned drivers are experienced with. I would say that it'll probably take you about two years to really feel confident and comfortable, at least if you are dedicating yourself to learning how to be a safe and competent driver.

If you want to worry less, try getting your teacher/parent to let you drive in increasingly 'scary' places with heavy traffic or challenging intersections. (Like during rush hour or in a big city.) Eventually try going to new places where you have to do some navigation. Don't worry so much - it takes time and you've got a lot of time for driving ahead of you. :)

  3. i still worry when i dont drive my car... and i have been driving for a little over 2 years... im going to be 18.

  4. give it a good 25 minutes
